CELINA: THE EMERGENCE OF A VIBRANT ITALIAN NEW ARTIST
Celina
SEPT 2024, 15:34 GMT+1
At just 22, Celina is about to embark on one of the most thrilling chapters of her life. As an upcoming artist, her name may not yet be known by the masses, but that’s all about to change. Born to Italian parents, Celina’s musical roots run deep, influenced by the rich culture of her heritage and the energetic rhythms of modern pop. Her debut performance on "Ich will zum ESC" marks the beginning of what promises to be an exciting journey as she steps into the public eye for the first time.
For Celina, music has always been about more than just the notes and melodies—it’s been her passion, her outlet, and her dream. She has spent years working behind the scenes, practicing her craft and developing a sound that she hopes will resonate with listeners. While she may be new to the stage, she’s no stranger to hard work. “Music is something I’ve always known I wanted to do,” she says. “But I didn’t want to rush into it. I wanted to be sure of who I was as an artist before I introduced myself to the world.”

Her style is a reflection of this thoughtfulness. Describing her music as energetic, upbeat, and danceable, Celina has crafted a sound that’s meant to inspire movement and emotion. Her music is heavily influenced by modern pop artists like Dua Lipa and other dance-pop icons, blending catchy hooks with pulsating beats that make it nearly impossible to sit still. Whether you’re in the club or just listening in your room, her tracks are designed to get your feet moving.
But beyond the fun and energy, there’s a deeper element to her artistry. Celina views her music as a form of expression, a way to communicate joy and confidence. She believes that music should empower people, making them feel good about themselves. “I want my music to be the kind that makes people feel alive,” she explains. “I want it to remind them to be bold, to have fun, and to let loose.”

Despite her confidence in her artistic direction, stepping onto a large stage for the first time isn’t without its challenges. "Ich will zum ESC" is a major national platform, with Celina competing for a chance to represent Germany in the prestigious Eurovision Song Contest. Her choice to perform Dua Lipa’s hit song “Physical” is not just a nod to one of her musical inspirations but also a statement of the kind of artist she is—bold, unapologetic, and ready to make an impact.
Celina’s entry into the competitive world of music comes at a time when the industry is more crowded than ever, but she remains undeterred. She understands that building a name for herself will take time, dedication, and perseverance, but she’s prepared for the journey ahead. Her determination and love for music keep her focused, and she’s excited to share her passion with the world.

Her ultimate goal as an artist goes beyond just success—she wants to create a lasting connection with her audience. While she’s eager to release her own original music in the future, she’s focused on making sure her debut on “Ich will zum ESC” is a performance people won’t forget. “I’ve been waiting for this moment for so long,” she says. “I want people to see who I am and what I stand for through my music.”
As an upcoming artist, Celina knows that this is just the beginning of her journey. She dreams of someday headlining her own tours, collaborating with other artists, and continuing to push the boundaries of pop music. For now, though, her eyes are set on the stage before her, ready to take that first step into the spotlight and make her mark on the world.

YOASOBI; J-POP PROMISING DUO
J-pop new talents
MAY 24TH 2024, 21:56 GMT+1
Yoasobi's musical style merges pop, rock, and electronic music. Tomonori Shiba from Cinra labeled their genre as monogatari ongaku. Ayase's inspirations include music from the '80s and '90s as well as K-pop, while Ikura finds influence in Western music, such as Disney tunes, folk, and country. Ayase has named Exile, Sukima Switch, Kobukuro, Radwimps, and Aiko as significant influences, while Ikura cites Taylor Swift. Yoasobi's sound and style have been likened to other Japanese groups like Yorushika and Zutomayo, recognized for their Vocaloid backgrounds and animated music videos. These three bands are collectively referred to by the term "Yakōsei" (夜好性, lit. "night-loving scene") because they all feature the word "夜" (meaning "night") in their names.
Yoasobi debuted in 2019 as a Japanese pop duo under Sony Music Entertainment Japan. The pair features Vocaloid producer Ayase and singer-songwriter Lilas Ikuta, who performs under the name Ikura. They center their music around the concept of "turning novels into songs," initially inspired by short stories from Monogatary.com, a creative writing platform associated with their label. Over time, their collection has grown to include a variety of sources, such as works by renowned authors, literary texts, letters, theatrical scripts, and more.

Akai Solo, born Daniel Dickson, is a rapper from Brooklyn with a unique stage name and a fascinating personal history. The name "Akai Solo" was chosen to reflect his Japanese and African roots, while also expressing his desire to transcend ignorance and become a force for positivity in the world.
Akai attended The New School in New York City, where he studied jazz and performance. During this time, he also began to explore the world of poetry and spoken word, which would later influence his work as a rapper. After graduation, he continued to hone his craft, writing and performing at open mic nights and other events. It was through this process that he developed the unique style and approach that he is known for today.
Akai Solo's name reflects his diverse cultural heritage, with the "akai" meaning red in Japanese and the "solo" alluding to his Nigerian roots. This reflects a strong sense of identity and pride in his background, which is reflected in his music. He also chose the name to reflect his desire to rise above the ignorance and violence that he sees in the world, and to instead become a voice of hope and redemption. It's a powerful statement about the transformative power of music
Aesop Rock's mention of the name "Shamar" in his lyrics unexpectedly resonated with Akai Solo, due to his own connection to someone with that name. This chance connection was a reminder of the powerful influence of art, and how it can create unexpected connections between people and ideas. Even though Akai's early rap group was not very successful, it was an important step in his journey as an artist. "During Akai Solo's time at Benjamin Banneker Academy in Brooklyn, he and his friends formed a rap group called B.D.B. They were new to the art of rap, and their skills were still developing. Despite this, they had a strong vision of using their music to fight ignorance and bring understanding. They embodied this vision with the name KITE, which stood for 'Killing Ignorance Throughout Eternity'."

Her latest album, "Se Ve Desde Aquí," showcases a new direction in her sound, with minimalist arrangements and sparse instrumentation that leave room for the listener to explore their own imagination.
Mabe Fratti's music combines the haunting tones of the cello with delicate electronic textures, creating a sound that is both intimate and expansive. Her compositions draw on a diverse range of influences, from traditional Latin American folk music to contemporary experimental artists. This fusion of old and new creates a sound that feels both timeless and futuristic, like a window into a parallel universe.
Fratti's music has a fragile, almost fragile quality that belies its powerful emotional impact. Each note seems to hang in the air, suspended in time, as if it could shatter at any moment. Yet, beneath the surface, there is a deep well of feeling, a sense of yearning and longing that resonates with the listener. It is as if the music is whispering a secret, inviting the listener to lean in closer to hear what it has to say.
Mabe Fratt's willingness to take risks and explore new musical territory has opened up a world of possibilities for her future. She has an exciting year ahead, with an international tour and several new projects in the works. This includes a collaboration with I. La Católica, which promises to be an exciting and innovative fusion of their respective styles. There is also a new album with Amor Muere, which promises to be a sonic journey into the experimental and avant-garde.
I. La Católica is a Mexican musician who creates music that blends electronic sounds with traditional Mexican folk music. Their music is often described as ethereal, hypnotic, and otherworldly. Their collaboration with Mabe Fratt is sure to produce some truly unique and groundbreaking music, combining the experimental and futuristic sounds of Fratt with the more traditional and grounded sounds of I. La Católica. It's a musical union that promises to push the boundaries of what we know about music and sound.
