Baul music is one of Bangladesh and India’s most fascinating musical genres. The Baul are mystic minstrels, traditional poets, singers, and storytellers, from Bengal (eastern India and Bangladesh). With their flowing saffron robes, long jet black hair, rolling eyes, and swaying hips, they sing in their high keening voices to the frenzied accompaniment of their traditional instruments.

Many of the folk music genres in Bangladesh are influenced by rich poetry of Bangladesh. Rabindranath Tagore was one of the most important characters who reshaped Bengali literature and music. Or another example is Nazrul Geeti folk genre which mainly are songs written and composed by Kazi Nazrul Islam. Lalon Fokir was a saint, songwriter and thinker in 18th and 19th century who inspired and influenced many poets, social and religious thinkers including Rabindranath and Tagore Kazi Nazrul Islam.
