Tina Turner, born Anna Mae Bullock on November 26, 1939, is a legendary American-born Swiss singer, songwriter, dancer, and actress. She rose to fame in the 1960s and 1970s as part of the Ike & Tina Turner Revue, a musical duo she formed with her then-husband Ike Turner.


Early Life and Career: Tina Turner was born in Nutbush, Tennessee, USA. She began her music career in the 1950s, performing in local clubs. In 1958, she met Ike Turner, a prominent musician, and they formed a musical partnership that would last for nearly two decades.



Ike & Tina Turner Revue: The Ike & Tina Turner Revue gained popularity for their energetic live performances and hit songs like "A Fool in Love," "River Deep – Mountain High," and "Proud Mary." They became known for their soulful and dynamic performances.






Personal Struggles: Tina Turner's personal life was marked by domestic abuse at the hands of Ike Turner. She eventually left the abusive relationship in 1976, divorcing Ike in 1978. This marked a turning point in her life and career.



Solo Career: Tina Turner embarked on a successful solo career in the late 1970s. Her fifth solo album, "Private Dancer" (1984), was a massive success and included hits like "What's Love Got to Do with It," "Better Be Good to Me," and "Private Dancer."







Achievements: Tina Turner is one of the best-selling music artists of all time. She has won numerous awards, including multiple Grammy Awards. In 1991, she was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.


Acting Career: In addition to her music career, Tina Turner has ventured into acting. She appeared in films such as "Tommy" (1975) and "Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome" (1985).


Autobiography: Tina Turner's autobiography, "I, Tina," co-written with Kurt Loder, was published in 1986. The book detailed her tumultuous relationship with Ike Turner and her journey to independence.




Retirement and Comeback: After several farewell tours in the late 2000s, Tina Turner officially retired from performing in 2009.



However, in 2019, she came out of retirement to release a compilation album titled "Tina: The Tina Turner Musical."





Tina Turner's enduring talent, resilience, and powerful performances have made her an icon in the music industry. Her impact on the world of rock and soul music is significant, and she continues to be celebrated for her contributions.
