The contestants who are popularly known as “Housemates", are monitored during their stay in the house by live television camera and audio microphone. They're isolated from contacting their friends and family and no use of gadgets. It's a social experiment which aims to put together people from diverse backgrounds, culture and experiences to live, and work together. The show is mainly shown on Multichoice owned cable television, DStv and Gotv. The audition mainly holds in Lagos Nigeria but is hosted in South Africa.
